While Jaxport stubbornly fought a boxing match with Brigham Moore attorney fees, only to end up flat on its back seeing stars and talking gibberish, another battle was brewing.
THE SAGA OF TRAIL RIDGE LANDFILL.
The Florida Times-Union’s David Hunt, a general-assignment reporter, wrote in his blog today, April 3, 2009:
During a breakfast honoring the new Sister Cities International partnership between Jacksonville and Curitiba, Brazil, an elected official from the Southeastern Brazilian town was announced as an honorary Jacksonville City Councilman.
“Can he vote?” Peyton asked, drawing a laugh from the crowd.
“That may be the mayor’s 10th vote for Trail Ridge,” Clark responded.
Granted, both were jokes, so file this under odds and ends.
A banner ad from Jacksonville Young Democrats, Concerned Taxpayers of Duval County, ran across jacksonville.com. The advertisement was apparently bought and paid for by young Democrats who don’t pay taxes. A YouTube video of young Democrats chastising Mayor Peyton is featured. This is must-see video.
Meanwhile, in Houston and Chicago, Waste Management teamed-up with Tropicana to inspire young Democrats across the globally-warmed planet.
At the same time, Tropicana, in association with Cool Earth, continued to Rescue the Rainforest.
