Day 9 — National Blog Posting Month. 11 12 13. Today’s date rolls around once every century. For example, November 12, 1813 occurred only once in the 19th century.

Lewis Carroll published ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND 50 years and 14 days later. Well, Macmillan published the novel on Nov. 26th, 1865.

Here we have one original illustration by John Tenniel, a British illustrator, graphic humorist and political cartoonist.

In Chapter 8, Alice is invited to play a game of croquet with the Queen and the rest of her subjects. The game descends quickly into chaos. Flamingos are used as mallets and hedgehogs for croquet balls.

The chief difficulty Alice found at first was in managing her flamingo.

NOTE: The chief difficulty I’m finding is in managing the life of Lewis Carroll in daily blog posts.
